hm, i quite like this original better! because its not as lighted it allows us as viewers so imagine parts of the monster up, so to me it has a bit of a more spooky impact C:
same here, this was more of a conceptual/emotional drawing, it wasn't meant to be ralistic at all ^_^ This one is better from an emotional view, the other is better from a semirealism view
I'm not sure about the lighting here. There's a lot of rim light going on but rim light only happens when the light concentrates around an edge and this in turn only happens if the light source is behind the object. If there was a blue light source behind the head, we would not be able to see that line going over it's nose. If there is a blue light source next to the head, we should be able to see much more of the head. Also, I would think those eyes kind of function as a light source of their own, around which I'd think we should be able to see more detail. Same goes for the mouth; if it is lit from within, how come we can't see the gums or tongue, but we can see the teeth very clearly?
Overall this is pretty scary and I like the concept a lot, but it could still be refined a fair bit. Try to really think logically about your light sources and how it affects the form in space.
I'm never sure about the lighting lol. The light sources in this image should be the eyes, the mouth and a distant light (moonlight) somewere on the very top left corner. I can see the incoherence in the lighting, I'll try to add more details in the future because I really love this concept. BTW I don't know if I can fix it because my epic smartness suggested me to do the entire thing in 1 single layer and now it's very easy (for me) to mess things up X'D
Hey that's fine, just create 1 new layer and paint over what you had . Treat it as though you're giving it a paintover for someone else or something. It's all experimental anyway; you can't really mess up and if you do, you simply start over.
